TWU Speech Language Pathology Master's Degree Program
Speech Language Pathology (SLP) Services
To address the shortage of master's level SLPs in Texas schools, a partnership was formed with Texas Education Service Centers (ESCs), Texas Woman's University (TWU), Texas Education Agency (TEA), and local educational entities to provide a master's degree program for both in-field and out-of-field students. The program, fully accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), utilizes videoconferencing, web-based instruction, and clinical experiences on school campuses, hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and special summer camps. Successful program completion prepares graduates to apply for Texas licensure in speech pathology and ASHA certification.

- This program is solely designed for students who commit to working in the schools of Texas following TWU graduation. Candidates who do not wish to work in Texas schools are not eligible for admission to this program.
- Individuals who do not have a bachelor’s degree in the speech or communication field are required to take “leveling” coursework, either through TWU or through an ASHA-approved university.
- TWU offers a Bilingual certification in addition to the SLP master’s degree. The purpose is to better serve children receiving speech therapy services in a language other than English.
