BrightBytes

Region 18 has partnered with BrightBytes to learn more about our school’s technology use for student learning. BrightBytes is a learning analytics company that combines data with educational research to inform and measure improved learning outcomes.  Our goal is to gather data on technology access and skills, and on our district’s technology environment, in order to understand the connection between technology use and student achievement.

To gain these insights, we must provide BrightBytes with a complete picture of technology use at school and at home within our district. We will be asking students, teachers, and parents to participate in the project to help us gather this data.

Your participation is important to us and will make the difference between having a complete versus a limited understanding of our district’s technology use.

Clarity

Clarity is a research-based online platform created by BrightBytes that measures the effectiveness of technology in schools and offers data-driven recommendations. BrightBytes is a learning analytics company that combines data with educational research to inform and measure improved learning outcomes.

Statistically significant data is collected twice a year through adaptive online surveys distributed to different stakeholders. Stakeholders include administrators, teachers and students. Surveying of parents is optional. Easy-to-read dashboards pinpoint strengths and gaps and link to actionable reports.

Through the data provided by the Clarity platform, districts may assess current conditions and review recommendations on how to enhance the digital learning environment at their schools based on the four different areas of the Clarity CASE framework - Classroom, Access, Skills, and Environment.

What Does the Clarity CASE Framework Measure?

CASE is a research-based framework outlining the essential factors schools need in order to improve learning through the use of technology. The framework includes 4 domains - Classroom, Access, Skills and Environment. It measures how school technology programs impact student learning by outlining the essential factors that schools need in order to prepare students for college and career.

The CASE module delivers easy-to-use, customized technology plans as well as actionable next steps for improving technology readiness.
