Dr. Helen Whisenhunt is an accomplished educational leader with over 15 years of experience in K-12 and higher education. Most recently she served as the Chief Instructional Officer for La Vernia ISD, overseeing district-wide instructional programs and providing strategic leadership for a broad range of departments, including curriculum and instruction, bilingual and special education, professional development, advanced academics, technology, and federal programs. A champion for innovation, she has led major initiatives such as the 4-day instructional week, Teacher Incentive Allotment, and development of the district’s strategic plan.

In addition to her district leadership role, Dr. Whisenhunt is a Lecturer at the University of Texas at San Antonio, preparing future educators through engaging, real-world aligned instruction. Her prior experience includes serving as the Coordinator of Secondary Science & Advanced Programs and teaching science at both traditional and alternative campuses.
